Tradition the Goddess has come down from many generations back. In this story, a small calf is venerated as the Golden Calf. It appeals to its contemporaries so much so that they believe in its heart and soul. The fact that its charm comes either from magic, or from superstition, or from whatever other sources is up to the readers to justify. As the story goes on, its magnetism intensifies.
